Zenobia Cawthon

d. December 13, 2018

Age 101 passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 in Lithonia, GA. Visitation Saturday, December 15, 2018 10:00 at Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment Walnut Grove Church Cemetery. Zenobia began her earthly journey on July 15, 1917 to the delight of her parents, Willie Hayes and Ada Brashers Hayes in Hookers Bend, Hardin County, Tennessee. Her husband, Lawrence Cawthon, parents, sisters: Nerla Hockett and Lillie Mae Baker; and brothers; Lennell Hayes, Marshall Hayes and Culous Hayes precede her in death. She joined Morris Chapel Church in Hookers Bend, TN at an early age. Throughout her many years on her Christian journey, she always kept God first in everything she set out to do. Quoting scripture, praying and reading her Bible was a daily occurrence. Zenobia received her education in the Hardin County School System and was a graduate of the Dunbar High School. Furthering her education, she attended Wooster Business College and graduated Valedictorian with a Medical Assistant Degree. She was employed as a “sitter” at the Ajax Turner Center. She was united in holy matrimony with Lawrence Cawthon and they were the proud parents of four sons. Affectionally called “Mama”, she was the matriarch of her family and loved taking care of others. She loved to fish and could cook like no other. She loved to drive and did so until family member had to take the keys from her at the tender age of 98. She never met anyone she didn’t love and loved to tell you “I love you sweet doll”. She leaves to cherish precious memories her sons, Jerry (Sandra) Cawthon, Dwight Cawthon, all of Lithonia, GA, William (Norma) Cawthon, Cleveland, OH and Larry (DeVetta) Cawthon, Clarksville, TN; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
