Walter Woody Evans was born on Monday, March 22, 1943, to Walter Harrison Evans and Alice Pearlie (Scott) Evans in Clarksville, TN, and was called “Woody” by those closest to him. Woody was the youngest of two children; graduated from Burt High School in 1961 and attended Austin Peay State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Keesee on February 1, 1964.

Woody accepted Christ at an early age at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tennessee, he was a faithful member for over 60 years. Woody served as Teacher of the Mixed Adult Sunday School Teacher, member of the Senior Usher Board and was Grill Master for the Youth Department. He loved his church family and looked forward to being with them every Sunday.

Woody was employed by Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation (CEMC) for over 25 years. In his past time, He was active in the community and was a member of Warfield Lodge #44, PHA, Joseph E. Stewart Social and Study Club, and Community Action Program. He enjoyed barbequing with his lodge brothers, cutting grass, gardening, watching cowboy movies, cheering for the Titans and taking Tiger for walks.

His father, Walter Harrison Evans; mother, Alice Pearlie (Scott) Evans Yarbrough; stepfather, Selgin Yarbrough; son-in-law, Chris L. Ramsey, Sr.; sister, Emma Lene Ferguson; niece, Lisa Gerba; aunt, Billie McMillian and uncle, Raymond Scott preceded him in death.

Walter Woody Evans, 82 passed away peacefully with his wife Elizabeth and two daughters, Lucrecia and Lejandra by his side on Monday, June 16, 2025, when God called him home.

Woody leaves precious memories to be cherished and shared by his devoted wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Evans; daughters, Lucrecia R. Ramsey and Lejandra (Darrin) Evans-Turner; grandchildren, Kyhdri (Haleigh) Evans-Jones, Bria Ramsey, Christopher Ramsey, Jr., Evan Ramsey, Darrin Turner, Jr. and Brandon Turner; sister, Treva Hooks; nieces: Sonya (RC) Leavelle, Carmen Baggett, and Vonda Hooks; nephew, Bruce (Shanta) Ferguson; brothers-in-law: Spencer Keesee, Jr., and Donald (Corrine) Keesee; sister-in-law, Geraldine Keesee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Woody’s journey here on earth was marked with love, kindness, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of everyone who knew him. The family ask that you remember him for the impact that he made on your life and know that he is at peace.
