Virginia Dowlen

Virginia Marie entered into life on Sunday, January 4, 1942, to parents, Samuel Johnson and Vivian Poindexter Johnson Butts in Clarksville, Tennessee. Her husband, Ben Thomas Dowlen; parents, sisters: Susan Elizabeth Webster and Wanda Jackson; brothers: Davis Johnson and Lamont Johnson preceded her in death.

She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of The Liberty Church.

Affectionately known as “Gin” by family and friends, she received her formal education through the Montgomery County School System. She attended and was a graduate of Historic Burt High School, Class of 1962, where she excelled as a player on the basketball team and summer league softball. She was a staunch supporter of the Burt High School Reunion Association. She enjoyed employment with Austin Peay State University as a member of the custodial staff. After many years of dedicated service, she retired on February 12, 2012.

Gin loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed watching sports on television, especially Titans football. All who knew and loved her will sorely miss her presence and beautiful smile.
