Trina Y. West

December 20, 1966 — September 9, 2021

Trina Yvette West, daughter of the late Melvin and Joan Gray, departed this life on September 9, 2021. She was born and raised in Washington, DC. She graduated from Saint Patrick’s Academy in 1985. After high school, Trina enlisted in the United States Army. Trina was honorably discharged from the military with many decorations. She was united into holy matrimony with Michael West on March 26, 1994. Out of this union, three beautiful children were born Michael West, Jr, Jasmine West and Tiana West. Trina began her career in the restaurant industry. She worked over 30 years in various companies and ended her career at Dairy Queen as a General Manager.

Trina enjoyed the small things in life and to know Trina was to love her. Trina was known for her big smile, warm hugs, listening ear and heroic heart. Her love traveled the east coast from Clarksville, Tennessee to Washington, DC. She loved the Lord and invited all that knew her to just try Him out. She was an active member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. She has held many positions in the church to include Deaconess, Trustee, Usher Ministry and Sunday School Teacher. Trina believed that “Only what you do for the Lord will last” and she served the Lord every day of her life. Trina also enjoyed R&B and Gospel music. Most of all, Trina loved her family. Her heartbeats were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them. She also would spend endless hours on the phone with her family in DC. She made a bond with friends that became family. Trina was always willing to help those in need, many would say it was the “God” in her. Her smile was contagious and her heart lit up the room Trina will greatly be missed by all who crossed paths with her.
