Shelia Cross Roman

Shelia Marie, daughter of the late Ernest Cross and Pet Lois Clardy Cross, began her earthly journey on Saturday, February 3, 1951 in Clarksville, Tennessee. In addition to her parents, her husband Carmelo “Carlos” Roman; son, DeMarcus Mallory Cross; sister, Lois Howard and two brothers: Morton Cross and Willie Ernest Cross, preceded her in death.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Sheila received her formal education through the Montgomery County School System. She attended the Historic Burt High School, and was an honorary member of the Class of 1969. She was self-employed, as cooking, baking and catering was a passion that led her to open her own restaurant, “Pat’s Café” from which she later retired.

On May 21, 2009, she united in holy matrimony with Carmelo “Carlos” Roman.

Shelia loved spending time with family and friends. She loved to decorate each holiday, but Christmas and Easter were her favorite. She always made sure each sibling, niece and nephew received a gift on Christmas and a personal handmade Easter Basket on Easter. She absolutely loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews dearly as she helped raise them in many ways and to them ALL that was their “She She”. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the Casino. She loved to cook and host gatherings, BBQs and entertain family and friends. She loved to dance and was most definitely the life of the party. She loved to give, help others, take care of others, rather they were family or not. She was definitely “Ms. Make It Happen” and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

On Monday, May 12, 2025, Sheila answered God’s beckoning call to cease from her earthly labors and entered into her Master’s joy.

She leaves to cherish precious memories her daughters: Patricia Graves, Kawana Atkins; son, Ra’Jan Trice, all of Clarksville, TN; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters: Doris (Lawrence) Douglas and Cynthia (Alton) Merkerson; brothers: Mark Cross and Harold Cross, all of Clarksville, TN; aunt, Bertha Scott; goddaughter, Stella Slayden and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
