Rosella Clardy Griffin passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017. Visitation Saturday, December 30, 2017 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. withthe funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church. Burial Resthaven Memorial Gardens.Rosella was born February 21, 1937 in Montgomery County, Tennessee to Lucian Clardy and Lucille Oldham Clardy. In addition to her parents, her son, Michael Pardue; grandsons, Vincent Pardue and DeKorias Pardue; granddaughter, Autivia Pardue and brothers: Melvin, Theoplis, Eugene and George Alvin Clardy precede her in death. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a young age and was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Rosella received her education in the Montgomery County School System attending the Historic Burt High School. She married her first husband, Jacob Pardue, who precedes her in death. This union was blessed with seven children: Michael Pardue (deceased), Sandra (Raymond) Mayfield, Joy Hoosier, Bonita (Larry) Johnson, Kerano Pardue, Keith (Annette) Pardue and Vince Pardue. Rosella married later in life to Richard Griffin, who also precedes her in death and this union added two children, Monica Hinton and Richard (Kara) Griffin to the family fold. During Rosella’s lifetime, she was a very strong Civil Rights Leader in the city of Clarksville, TN. Serving as a member of NAACP, CORE/Legal Services, co-founder of KIDs In Control, an organization that helped the children in the Lincoln Homes Housing development. She was the recipient of many awards, certificates and plaques for her participation and the services she provided. One award in particular was the “Rosella Griffin Inner City Scholarship” awarded in May of 2003 for her leadership and activity within her community. She was also an entrepreneur, co-owner/operator of R & T Sewing Shop. Rosella enjoyed sewing and working jigsaw puzzles, which she framed for her family and friends. All who knew and loved her will sorely miss her presence. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her children and 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
