Mr. Charmist Fields

Charmist Fields was born on Tuesday, December 17, 1940, in Uniontown, Alabama to Robert Fields and Allie Mae Shepard Fields. His parents and sister, Annetta Fields Key preceded him in death. He departed this earthly life and entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

Charmist accepted Christ at an early age and joined the First Missionary Baptist Church, Uniontown, AL, under the leadership of Rev. Ed Bradley, where he attended regularly with his family.

He attended the Uniontown District Academy until the new Uniontown Elementary School was built. Charmist had a natural aptitude to make and repair things. His favorite school subjects were math, science and shop; he excelled in the three until he got interested in girls. Charmist graduated from Perry County Training School, Class of 1958. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1959. He served on active duty for over 25 years and retired with the rank of MSgt. He was assigned to the following bases: Turner Air Force Base, GA, Nouasseur Air Base Morocco, North Africa; Carswell AFB, TX, Korat Royal Thai AFB, Thailand; McConnell AFB, KA; Osan AB Korea; Hill AFB UT and England AFB, LA.

In October 1963, while still in the Air Force he married his high school sweetheart, Juanita Davis. Their fun-loving whirlwind romance characterized their relationship not only as a young couple, but as married partners of 62 years. From this union they were blessed with a son, Charmist, Jr.

Father and son maintained a strong bond and were highly active in sports, community and school activities. Charmist became a Scout Leader and guided Charmist, Jr., through many exciting experiences.

After retiring from the US Air Force in 1984 with an honorable discharge, he worked for two years with the Rapides Parish Coliseum as a Concession Director. He worked on aircraft most of his adult life, at a job he really loved. Bowing Aircraft Company opened a plant in Lake Charles, LA the summer of 1986, Charmist went to work there as an aircraft inspector. While working there he applied and was accepted with the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), in which he had several assignments with them: Troy, AL, Fort Campbell, KY, Greenville, SC and Nashville, TN. Charmist retired again in 2010 with 23 years of federal civilian service as an Industrial Specialist.

Charmist was a member of Silver Trowel Lodge #18, F&AM, PHA; he was elevated to the 32nd degree at Benn Lomond Consistory #94, Ogden, UT, Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, PHA, Northern Jurisdiction, USA, Inc., Philadelphia, PA and created a Shrine at Kadesia Temple #135, Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Colorado Springs, CO.

In 1994, Charmist built his dream home outside the city limits of Clarksville in Adams, TN. Always community minded, Charmist became President of the Perry County Training / Robert C. Hatch High School National Alumni Association from 1995-1999. He was active in many ways, including volunteering to be Vice President of Clarksville-Montgomery County AARP Chapter #1957, Clarksville, TN from 2013-2015, and then President from 2016-2020.

Charmist leaves to rejoice in his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Juanita; son, Charmist Jr.; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, grand-nieces, nephews, grand-nephews and friends.

He taught us to love family deeply; to express love with words, a smile and a warm hug; to take nothing for granted; to protect others, particularly those you love; to put things in perspective and concentrate on what matters most; to embrace life fully and to live in the moment paying attention to all that this magnificent life has to offer. We will miss him more than words can express and will honor his life by our commitment to these lessons.

Charmist knew the power of his Christian faith, understanding that suffering and death held his meaning in the resurrection. He lives now in glory. Live on, Charmist. We lovingly hold you in our hearts, our minds, our souls and in our very beings.
