Mary Alice
Quarles
April 13, 1947 – March 2, 2026
Mary Alice Faye, daughter to John Henry Crowder and Lueanna Parchman Crowder, began her earthly journey on Sunday, April 13, 1947, in Clarksville, Tennessee. Her husband, James Quarles and parents preceded her in death.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of St. Peter AME Church. She diligently served as a faithful member of Irene McKinnon Women’s Missionary Society, Culinary Team; Sunday School attendee and 1st Saturday Women’s Ministry.
Mary Alice received her formal education in the Montgomery County School System, and graduated from the Historic Burt High School, Class of 1965. Throughout her lifetime, she was employed with Memorial Hospital as a Dietary Aide and the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System as a Cafeteria Aide.
On March 26, 1987, she united in holy matrimony with James Quarles and together they were the proud parents of six children.
Mary Alice loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, shopping, and attending her church events. All who knew and loved her will sorely miss her presence and beautiful smiling face.
On Monday, March 2, 2026, Mary Alice answered God’s beckoning call to cease from her earthly labors and enter into eternal rest.
Those left to celebrate her life and to cherish her memories forever are her daughters: Tanya White, Delinda (Timothy) Gold, Tracy Garrett, Melissa Thomas, Latina (Demont) Mimms, all of Clarksville, TN, and Rebecca Coursey, Atlanta, GA; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters: Patricia (James) Howze, Lafayette, LA, Sandra Tyson, Erin, TN and Dorothy (Carlton) Roach; sister-in-law, Jenice Quarles; brother-in-law, Sandy (Lillie Bell) Quarles; special friends: Lisa Long, Linda Ellison, Birdie Haynes, Debi Bourne, Miller Anglin and Tommy Darden; cousin, Hubert Garrett and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
