Lucille began her earthly journey on Sunday, June 8, 1958 in Clarksville, Tennessee, to Newt Garrett, Sr., and Drucilla Carter Garrett. Her parents preceded her in death.
She was raised in a loving, faith-filled home, where she learned the values of kindness, perseverance, and service to others. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church faithfully serving on the Mothers Board, as a member of the choir, piano player, choir director, missionary and working within the Cumberland River South Kentucky Middle Tennessee Baptist District Association. A former member of Silver Springs Missionary Baptist Church, she also served as a member of the Mothers Board, sang in the choir, co-coordinator of VBS and member of Smithfork District Association.
Lucille received her education in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System and where she was a graduate of Northwest High School, Class of 1976. She attended Middle Tennessee State University where she earned a Master’s Degree in Professional Studies. She enjoyed employment with MTSU as an Advisor and retired September 30, 2022 after many years of dedicated service. She enjoyed membership with Warfield FCE.
On Saturday, April 7, 1979, she united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Billy Wilcox, Jr. This union was blessed with four children.
Lucille loved spending time with family and friends especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed softball volleyball and gardening. All who knew and loved her will sorely miss her presence and beautiful smiling face.
On Monday, December 22, 2025, Lucille departed this life to be with the Lord.
She leaves precious memories to be cherished by her devoted husband of 46 years, Billy Wilcox, Jr.; daughters: Shanita Wilcox and Tameisha Wilcox (Jason) Hamilton, all of Clarksville, TN sons: Billy (Melissa) Wilcox, III, and Jonathan (Tiffany) Wilcox; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters: Willie Mae (Ray) Miller, Ann Wentz and Elenora Mallory; brothers: Newt Garrett, Jr., James (Ruby) Garrett, Sr., Albert (Rubye) Garrett, Edward (Tina) Garrett, Howard (Patricia) Garrett, Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
