Lizzie Hillmon was born October 2,1935 to William Taft Hillmon and Jenetta Rice Hillmon in Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee. Lizzie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William Taft Hillmon, Jr., Robert Hillmon and Oliver Hillmon; and sisters, Annie Bell Thomas, Julia Ewing, Jessie Mae Lucas and Gladys Brown.
Lizzie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and began her Christian journey at Mt. Zion Baptist Church- Spring Creek. She later joined Ogburn Chapel Baptist Church, where she served on the Mothers Board and sang in the Chapel Choir. She was educated in the Montgomery County School System.
She married Charlie “C.W.” William Wills and to this union two sons were born, Broderick and DeWayne Wills. She later married Thomas Ed McGregor. Her son Broderick Wills also preceded her in death.
Lizzie loved spending time with her family; sharing conversations while fishing, cooking or just entertaining gave her so much joy. A smile that lit up the room from “good morning” to “good night” will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Lizzie had on those she encountered along her journey. Though Lizzie may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, her essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience. On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, Lizzie said “good bye” to the troubles of this old world, and went home to be at rest.
She leaves to cherish her memory son, DeWayne (Bernice) Wills; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Jennie B. Reed, Clarksville, Tennessee and Glodine Hillmon, Kokomo, Indiana; brothers, Lewis Hillmon, Peru, Indiana, Arthur Hillmon, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and Ted (Katie) Hillmon, Clarksville, Tennessee; daughter-in-law Charlivta Wills, Nashville, Tennessee; devoted caretakers “BJ”, Brandon and Kim; good friend Dorothy Bell; special friend, Thomas Ed McGregor and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
