Lizetta Hockoday

Listen to Obituary

In the early morning of Monday, September 15, 2025, Lizetta Denise Crotzer Hockoday peacefully took her final breath at Spring Meadows Nursing Home in Clarksville, Tennessee. She was born on September 25, 1940, to the late Katie Stoner

Crotzer and Ed Lewis Crotzer. Lizetta was educated in Clarksville, attending historic Burt High School, and as a youth was a devoted member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ at an early age. She later built a career with Star Tek for nine years and worked faithfully with the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System as a Classroom Assistant at Headstart.

Known for her strong will, quick wit, and loving spirit, Lizetta was a joy to be around. She never let the times dim her light, and her personality left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, cheering for her favorite teams, the Tennessee Titans and the Los Angeles Lakers and, most of all, spending time raising and supporting her grandchildren. Lizetta was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by her children: three sons, Aubrey Hockoday (Felicia Hockoday) of Fort Worth, Texas, Quinton Hockoday, and Eric Posey of Clarksville, TN; one daughter, Pamela Hockoday of Clarksville, TN; five grandchildren, Laquana Hockoday, LeMarkus Chevalier, Corisha Hardy, Brianna Posey, and Eric Watson; and six great-grandchildren, Sha'Miyah Hockoday, Natrice Evans, Marziyah Hall, Paris Le Roy, King Wright, Maison Green, A'dahlia Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Katie and Ed Lewis Crotzer; her sisters, Lillian Langston (Robert Langston), and Glenda Haynes; her brothers, Norman Earl Crotzer and Robert Lewis Crotzer; her granddaughter, Jannie Burnett; and her nieces, Elfreda Langston and Norma Jean Crozter-Darvin. Lizetta was known as a fighter. She faced many challenges but held strong for 84 beautiful years. Her love, strength, and legacy will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and all those who were blessed to know her.
