Linda Porter

Linda Marie was born on Thursday, September 22, 1949, the daughter of the late James Edward Haynes and Marvetta C. Blakey Haynes. In addition to her parents, her husband, Dale Porter, and sisters: Emma Grace Powell and Cosa Haynes preceded her in death.

She confessed her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Cathedral of Praise until her move to Clarksville where she worshipped with Nevels Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

On Saturday, March 28, 1970, Linda united in holy matrimony with Dale Porter and this union was blessed with two children.

Linda was a graduate of historic Burt High School, Class of 1967. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Nashville State Technology College. She enjoyed employment with Metro Social Services as a Social Worker and retired after many years of dedicated service. After relocating to Clarksville, she worked in the retail business with Dillard’s for 10 years and retired again.

Linda loved spending time laughing and cutting up with her family and friends. She enjoyed working her puzzles, watching Family Feud and shopping for others. All who knew and loved her will sorely miss her presence and beautiful smile.

On Monday, August 3, 2026, Linda departed this life to be with the Lord.

She leaves to cherish precious memories her devoted daughter, Torrie Porter, Clarksville, TN; son, Delbert Porter, Cookeville, TN; 10 grandchildren: Katelyn Bradley, DaQuae Porter, Delvin Porter, Jaymes Greer, Chania Porter, Jaylen Peebles, Jayla Peebles, Dallis Porter, Kade Jacob McDaniel, Delbert Porter, Jr.; five great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
