Larry Brown

Larry Ray began his earthly journey on January 15, 1952, son to Mary Louise Brown Hewitt and Odell D. Hardy in Grandview, TX. His parents, stepdaughter, Kim Parker Dewitt and grandparents: Thomas James Brown and Ella Mae Brown preceded him in death.

He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and after serving in the armed forces, relocated to Clarksville, TN where he was a member and served on the Deacon Board of Nevels Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Larry was educated in the Texas Public School System and was a graduate of Grandview High School Class of 1970. In 1972, Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as an Inflight Fueler Operating Technician for 20 years of service to his country, retiring in 1992.

On June 10, 1979, Larry united in holy matrimony with Mary Ellen Parker and they became a blended family with four children: Theresa Brown Hunter, Kim Parker Dewitt, William Tyrone Parker and Tasha Buchanan.

When Larry was younger, he was affectionately called “Poeboy” by family and friends. When he joined the military, he was called “Lightning” by his peers. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a highly skilled local auto mechanic who enjoyed building race cars and hot rods. He enjoyed fishing, doing yard work and watching old western cowboys on television. All who knew and loved him will sorely miss his presence and smiling face.

On Thursday, June 22, 2023, Larry’s earthly journey ended peacefully.

He leaves precious memories to be cherished with his devoted wife of 44 years, Mary E. Brown; daughters: Theresa Brown Hunter, Fort Worth, TX and Tasha Buchanan; son, William T. Parker, Cary, NC; sisters: Linda Kaye Brown, Linda Kaye Hardy and Lanell Hardy, all of Fort Worth, TX and Barbara Hewitt (Duane) Thomas, Everman, TX; brothers: Teddy Earl Brown, Dallas, TX and Robert Hewitt, Everman, TX; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
