Helen Long

Age 78 of Clarksville passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021. Viewing Friday, August 20, 2021 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Foston Funeral Home. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.

Wanda Helen was born August 9, 1943 in Clarksville to Kenneth Anderson and Corrinne Crowder Williams. She was a 1961 graduate of historical Burt High School. Helen retired from Clarksville Montgomery County School System in 2012. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Clarksville Civitan Club, Clarksville Community Black History Council, The Commission of Religion and Racism, Habitat for Humanity, Founder of the Black Interdisciplinary Center and Founder of Helen Anderson Long Academy in Liberia, Africa. Helen was a delegate to the Louis Sullivan Leadership Council in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories daughters, Venita (James) Holmes, Clarksville, TN and Vonda Brown, Lithonia, GA; sister, Mildred (Michelle) Speer, New York, NY; aunt, Mary Alice Quarles, Clarksville, TN; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 2 step grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren.
