Glenda Jean Poindexter Thompson

Glenda Jean Poindexter was born September 16, 1948, in Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee, the daughter of Garnett and Emma D. Trice Poindexter. Her parents preceded her in death.

Glenda professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of Boiling Spring Missionary Baptist Church. She was educated in the Montgomery County School System and was a graduate of historic Burt High School Class of 1966.

She was married to George Thompson, who also preceded her in death. She was employed by Letica Company.

Glenda had a special gift for remembering and preserving the past. She was a true historian, not only remembering the facts but the dates and the ancestry that made those stories legendary.

On August 21, 2026 Glenda departed this life to be with the Lord. Her story will be added to that of the ancestors. We will fondly remember her family stories as told around the dining table. May she rest in peace knowing she was loved and that her stories mattered and will continue to be told.

She leaves to cherish precious memories her sister, Garnetta Russell, Dayton, OH; brothers, Joseph Poindexter, New Haven, CT and Lonzo (Frances) Poindexter, Clarksville, TN; cherished nephew, Anthony E. Poindexter, Dayton, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
