Eunice Lucille, daughter to Wash Ogburn and Eunice Lisenby Ogburn, began her earthly journey on a cold winter Saturday, February 17, 1934 in Montgomery County, TN. Her parents, brothers: James Edward “Buck” Ogburn, Willis Ogburn, Will Daniel “Jimbo” Ogburn, Wash “Ducie Boy” Ogburn, Jr., Clarence Thomas “C.T.” Ogburn, Billie James Ogburn, infant boy; and sisters: Annie Elizabeth Ogburn Pollard, Nannie Louise “Nancy” Ogburn Bailey, Mae Frances Ogburn Mallory, and infant girl preceded her in death.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church serving on the Kitchen Committee. In later years she attended worship services at Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
Eunice received her formal education in the Montgomery County Public Schools. She was a self-employed domestic engineer sharing her talents with several private families and as a cook at Bob and Roy’s Restaurant before retiring after many years of dedicated service.
On Saturday, October 17, 1953, she united in holy matrimony with John Elton Young, who also preceded her in death.
Affectionately called Lucille by family and friends, she loved spending time with them. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings ensuring enough food was cooked to feed everyone, and because she never met a stranger, she loved talking to people. She was an avid BINGO player and enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
On Monday, June 22, 2026, Lucille’s earthly journey ended peacefully as she transitioned home to be with the Lord.
She leaves to cherish precious memories her daughter, Kathy Young White, Clarksville, TN; sisters: Dorothy Bell Ogburn Roberts, Indianapolis, IN, Ruby Nell Ogburn Fletcher, Chicago, IL, Dorothy Jean Young, Detroit, MI, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
