Viewing Saturday, December 5, 2020 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Foston Memorial Chapel. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.

Edith Dorothy’s earthly journey began on January 28, 1917, one of 21 children born to Mitchell and Georgia Ann Bell, in Charlotte, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her husband, Napoleon Poindexter, sons: Eldridge “Eugene” Harris, James Robert, parents and 20 siblings.

She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a very young age and was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the Senior and Women’s Choirs..

On November 19, 1949, Edith was united in holy matrimony with Napoleon Poindexter and they were the proud parents of five children.

She was a  member of the American Legion Post #143. For more than 30 years she was an employee with Clarksville Memorial Hospital in the Housekeeping Department and retiring in the 1980s.

Edith enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her favorite pastime activities included cooking, gardening, playing bingo and taking care of others in need. All who knew and loved her will sorely miss her presence and smiling face.

On Wednesday, November 25, 2020, more than a century after Edith’s journey began, God dispatched His angel of love to safely escort her to her heavenly home.

Edith leaves precious memories to  be cherished by her sons: William (Betty) Poindexter, Clarksville, TN and Sammy (Sharon) Poindexter, Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Patricia Moss, Clarksville, TN; nine grandchildren; devoted granddaughter, Kyatina Bowie; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
