Dr. Marida Pace-Newbern

Listen to Obituary

Marida Pace, daughter to Frank K. Pace and Myrtle L. Lyle Pace, began her earthly journey on Thursday, April 27, 1978 in Clarksville, TN. Both parents preceded her in death.

She professed hope in Christ at an early age and was a former member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church.

Marida received her education in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. She attended Northwest High School, where she participated in color guard. She was an average student, earning mostly B’s and C’, but she eventually went on to earn her doctoral degree and built a life rooted in service, learning and care for others. She worked as a nurse for 21 years and was a proud member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. Education was deeply important for her, both for her children and for the students she taught at APSU and TSU. She believed education opened doors and created opportunities, which is why she held high standards for those she cared about and taught. She attended APSU and earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (2002), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2004), and Master of Science in Nursing (2008). Attending Union University she earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (2020).

On Friday, September 12, 2008, Marida united in holy matrimony with Timothy Newbern.

She loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed shopping, especially for clothing and beauty products and her favorite color was pink. She loved going to concerts with friends, seeing movies, and dining at restaurants in downtown Nashville. She also loved taking pictures and documented nearly everything she experienced through photos. One of her favorite musicals was “The Lion King”, which she saw at least seven times. She also enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the Pigeon Forge area.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Timothy Newbern; daughters: Asia K. Pace, and India Y. Pace; sons: Jaden M.M. Newbern and London G.M. Newbern, all of Clarksville, TN; sister, Melissa (Willie) Pope; brother, Archie (Iva) Pace; aunt, Berline White; great-aunt, Eva Lyle and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, sorority sisters, colleagues at TSU and friends.
