Dr. Arthur Lee Neal

    
 Dr. Arthur Lee Neal, age 80, of Clarksville passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Tennova Healthcare surrounded by his loving family.  Dr. Neal served in the Vietnam War and received several honor medals. He is a graduate of Tennessee State University (B.S. in Music, M.A. in Music Education and Ed. S. in Education Administration) and George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University (Ph. D. in Higher Education Administration). He retired after 42 years with the State of Tennessee.  In addition, to serving as Director of Watson Hall and Director of Research at TSU and Employment Security, Dr. Neal initiated the Veterans Upward Bound Program in 1989 at Austin Peay State University. He was the Director of the Veterans Upward Bound Program for 25 years. 
He was born on October 4, 1943, in Lexington, TN. He is predeceased by his parents, Sylvester Neal and Irene Cooper Neal, sister, Ella Parker, grandparents, Andrew Cooper and Evergene Cooper and Emerson Neal and Raymel Neal. 
He is survived by his loving wife, Dr. Merriel Bullock Neal, sons Mark Bullock, Arthur Lee Neal, Jr. (Yolanda), daughter Lynnette Bullock Brinson, grandsons Jefferson Sherrod Brinson, Arthur Lee Neal, III, sister Cathey Neal Ellis, nephew, Nathan Tyrone Ellis, nieces Natonia Tillman and Antoinette Nicole Ellis, and a host of relatives and friends. 
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 317 Franklin Street, Clarksville, TN 37040. Visitation at 11:00 A.M. and Service at 12 Noon.
