Dorothey Thomas

Dorothey was one of three children born to Jake and Aurdria Griffie in Adams, TN on December 28, 1953. She was immersed in the Christian community surrounding Nevels Chapel Baptist Church. She gave her life to Christ at the tender age of ten. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Aurdria Griffie, her sister, Almedia Haynes and nephew, Recco McKeage. She later served as church secretary, youth advisor, on the Mothers board and also Pastoral staff. Dorothey graduated from Clarksville High School in 1971. She attended Austin Peay State University and later graduated with an Associates Degree in Business from Nashville Business School. She married Nathaniel Stowe I and gave birth to three children and later adopted a fourth.  Dorothey later married Will Thomas and added two children with this 23 year union. Rev. Thomas received her calling to the ministry in 2003. She was ordained at Cabin Row Baptist Church by Pastor Bobby G. Trotter.  Mrs. Thomas retired from Nyrstar where she worked as a financial support coordinator for 43 years since its start up. She loved working and rarely took days off. Because of her love for the community Dorothey served on many boards. She was Worthy Matron of St. Mary’s Chapter 5, OES, president of Clarksville branch NAACP, board director of Progressive Directions, secretary of Rotary Club and secretary for the Clarksville Academy School Board. Above everything,  Dorothey was a mother first who loved her family and friends. She was an amazing mother who always made sure her children and grandchildren had all they needed even until death. She doted on her grandchildren, nieces and nephew. Her smile, kind words and Christ like nature will dearly be missed by many.To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her husband, Will Thomas, children: Nathaniel (Rosalie) Stowe II, Kristen (Corey) Stowe-Walker, Kristian (Jennifer) Stowe, Alicia Foster, Crystal (Mike) Johnson, Kamario Thomas, Nikki Hudson; special daughter, Heather Stowe; grandchildren: Nathaniel, Nadiya, Kiersten, Jaden, Kristian Stowe, Mia Bolton, Mariah, Aaron and Eden Johnson, Nakia and Javyn Hudson; Shamia (Sweet Chocolate), Kameria, Alani (Ladybug) Thomas  her sister, Margie McKeage; brother, James Haynes; aunt, Ruby Lee; Godchildren: Jessica and Scott Osborne and a host of nieces and cousins.

Family, cherish the memories of a Griffie matriarch who has passed the mantle to receive her crown. Rest in glory for an earthly life well lived. Blessings to all.
