Daisy Ruth McCurrie

Daisy Ruth began her earthly journey on June 14, 1946, to the delight of her parents, Clyde Simpson and Daisy Mae Boykins Simpson in Gadsden, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Marcques Taylor, Flossie J. Gooch and brother, Michael Simpson.

She professed her hope in Christ at an early age and united with Hosley Chapel CME Church in Gadsden, TN. After she moved to Clarksville, TN with her husband and children, she joined Greenhill Church and Christian Outreach Ministry where she was baptized and became a devoted member. Giving of her time and talents as a mother of the church, Deaconess, prayer warrior and greeter/usher. She also worked with others in the Pastoral Care Ministry within the church, helping and caring for others.  She was a friend, a mother to many and treated them as one of her own and would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. Daisy was a two-time breast cancer survivor and never wavered in believing that she would be healed. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23 and favorite songs: “Amazing Grace”, “Precious Lord” and “Order My Steps”.

Daisy was a 1963 graduate of Central High School in Alamo, TN. On June 28, 1964, Daisy united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, J.T. McCurrie, whom he affectionately call “Dai Ruth”. God blessed this union with 58 years of wedded bliss and five daughters. 

She worked at Ft. Campbell High School for 20 years before retiring. She was employed with Walmart at the Ft. Campbell Blvd Store #1680 for 25 years as an AP Customer Host. If you saw her at the door, she would give a smile and a nice little tap on the back and ask where’s your mask?  Her hobbies included traveling with her husband, spending time with her children and grandchildren and going out to her serenity area to enjoy her flowers and to fellowship with God.

She leaves to cherish precious memories her loving husband,  J.T McCurrie; five daughters: Donna  (Greg) McCurrie-Bowen, Johanna (Darryl) Yates, Monica (Marcus) Dawson, Patricia (David) Crawford and Felicia McCurrie (Marcus); sisters: Myra Jones and Lola Diane Ingram; brothers: Clyde Simpson, Jr., and Danny R. (Yolanda) Simpson; brother-in-law, James Henry (Marion) McCurry; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and including special friends that she had made throughout the years.

Viewing Thursday, February 2, 2023 12:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. with the family present 5:00 p.n.-7:00 p.m. at Foston Funeral Home. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2023 at Greenhill Church.
