Clinton Mathew, son to Curtis “Tom” Ham, Sr., and Allean James Ham Hughes, began his earthly journey on Wednesday, October 27, 1969 in Chesterfield, South Carolina. His father and brother, Earnest James preceded him in death.
He professed a hope in Christ at an early age and in later years united with Christ the Healer Church, faithfully serving as a member of the Deacon Board and Mass Choir. His favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13.
Clinton received his formal education in the Chesterfield County, SC Public Schools where he attended and graduated from Cheraw High School with the Class of 1987. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant First Class/E7 and served as a tracked motor vehicle mechanic and supervisor. On October 31, 2014, he retired after 25 years of dedicated service to his country. Following military retirement, he enrolled at Austin Peay State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts Health and Human Performance Degree. He enjoyed membership in the Daniel “Chappie” James Military Lodge #27 and Yemen Temple #152.
On Saturday, April 11, 2009, Clinton united in holy matrimony with Lisa A. Jones and they were the proud parents of five children.
Clinton was an amazing husband, father, brother, son and friend. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, golfing and basketball. He is not truly gone but transformed, present in memories and in our hearts. His legacy lives on in our hearts and the actions of those he touched. Now all we have are memories that we’ll never part. God has you in his hands, we have you in our heart. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
On Thursday, January 15, 2026, Clinton departed this life to be with the Lord.
He leaves to cherish precious memories his wife, Lisa A. Jones Ham; sons: Jordan Ham and LaDavion J. Dickens, both of Clarksville, TN; daughters: Chykel Hobbs, Beaver Dam, WI, Alexa Ham, Los Angeles, CA and Shaquanna Lennon, Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren; mother, Allean Hughes, Cheraw, SC; brothers: Curtis Ham, Jr., and Bobby L.
