Long
December 18, 1935 – February 17, 2026
Charles Kelly, the son of George Frank Long, Jr., and Erma Bell Long, began his earthly journey on Wednesday, December 18, 1935, in Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee. His parents, sisters, Odessa Long, Estella Rogers and Mary C. Owens; brothers, Tom Ed Long, Ben Long, Robert Long and Norman “Q’-Ball” Long, preceded him in death.
He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church serving as a member of the Usher Board and the Radio Ministry.
Charles received his education in the Montgomery County School System attended and was a graduate of the Historic Burt High School, Class of 1955. He was employed by Memorial Hospital as a supply clerk before retiring after many years of dedicated service. He was a longtime supporter of the Burt High School Reunion Association, serving in whatever capacity he was asked.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid golfer and served as a high school football referee with TSSAA. All who knew and loved him will sorely miss his presence and smiling face.
On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Charles departed this life to be with the Lord.
He leaves precious memories to be cherished by his daughters: Venita (James) Holmes, Clarksville, TN and Vonda Brown, Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren: Norrianna Brown, Brittney Holmes, Erica Darr and one great-grandchild, Makiyah Boyd; sister, Margaret Green, Indianapolis, IN and a host of other relatives and friends.
