Barney Bernard entered into life on Wednesday, March 20, 1963, to parents, Clarence Merriweather and Lucille Davis Merriweather in Clarksville, Tennessee. He was one of ten children. His daughter, LaKesha Kelly; parents and three brothers: Jimmy Gordon Merriwether, Clarence Merriweather and Charles Merriweather preceded him in death. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Barney was educated in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System and was a graduate of Northeast High School. He enjoyed employment with the Electrolux Company as an assembly line worker and retired in 2018 after many years of dedicated service. On September 30, 1988, Barney united in holy matrimony with Cheryl Trotter. Barney loved spending time with family and friends. He was a hardworking man that loved life. He was happiest when working at one of his jobs or at home with one of his projects. He enjoyed welding, yard work and also working on cars. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing baseball. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. All who knew and loved him will sorely miss his presence. On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, Barney departed this life to be with the Lord.
He leaves to cherish precious memories his devoted wife of 35 years, Cheryl T. Merriweather; daughters: Jasmin Merriweather, Harker Heights, TX, JaNeisha (Shaquille) Scharkley, Jasmine Lee (Carlos) Willis, Lanisha Bell, Danielle Harris and Shantieka Kelly; son, Shawnquavious Kelly; a host of grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters: Ruth A. Patterson and Charlene Merriweather, both of Clarksville, TN; brothers: George Miles, Fred Merriweather, Edward Merriweather and Joseph Merriweather; aunts: Elizabeth Crafton, Iona Hardy and Rosie Lee Orgain; uncles: John Davis, Joe Davis, George Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
