Essie Burney

Essie Majors Burney age 90 of Clarksville died May 3, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center. A Celebration of Life Serivce will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. David D. Allen, Eulogist. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 12noon to 8 p.m. family present 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born December 18, 1921 in Clarksville, TN. The daughter of Robert Majors and Callie Carney Majors. The widow of Robert Harris Burney. She was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Lottie Smith Missionary Society, Senior and Womens Choir and First Foston Funeral Home choir. She was a teacher for Montgomery County School System and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She leaves to cherish her memory sons: Anthony Burney, Danville, KY., David (Reba) Burney, Maurice Burney; Daughters: Sandra Reyes, Roberta (Michael) Tharpe, all of Clarksville, TN., grandchildren; Marcus Miller, Marcellus Flynn, Shawanda Burney, Charles Watkins, Shree Burney, Jiminka Burney, Monte Burney, ShaNya Burney, Isaiah Tharpe, Jaylon Tharpe, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
